Our Role

The role of the Accord members is to provide market information and thought-leadership on sustainability and its link to value.  Our aim is to create a platform for:

1. Collaboration by clients, supporters, observers, stakeholders and professionals on agreed practices and standards;

2. Participation in open and transparent consensus to create consistent approaches to value, sustainability and valuation;

3. Creation of, and access to, combined and qualified resources, including discussion on this important subject;

4. Access to educational resources and courses to improve knowledge and skills;

5. Help ensure the needs are met of lenders, owners, developers and others by providing input to any changes in valuation practice and standards;


It is important to ensure that the Accord is adequately resourced and effectively managed to deliver against its overall objectives.


The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) is the current secretariat until 23 March 2013

The Secretariat is an administrative function whose responsibilities include: 

Day to day management of the Accord

Arranging the organisations meetings (including those of the Board of Trustees Committee and Support Network)

Provide administrative support at the meetings of the Committee and Support Networks

Develop and maintain the dedicated Vancouver Valuation Accord web portal

Manage the production of the themed conference with signatories of the Accord can meet to report back on progress

Stewardship Board

The Stewardship Board will ensure that the core values and purposes of the organisation are reflected in the operation process.  The Board will be responsible for the overall objectives of the Accord.  This will include monitoring and reviewing the performance of the Secretariat.
